How Deshaun Watson, Jerome Ford and the rest of the Browns offense graded vs. the Jaguars

Jacksonville, Fla. — Quarterback Deshaun Watson made his Browns debut on Friday night as the Browns took on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a 24-13 preseason win.

In just nine snaps, however, Watson struggled to get into a rhythm in his first game action in 19 months. He completed just one of five attempts for seven yards, ending the game with a 56.6 offensive grade from Pro Football Focus.

While Watson struggled without five Pro Bowlers, rookie running back Jerome Ford was a bright spot, scoring two touchdowns (one on a 3-yard run up the middle and one on a 14-yard reception from Josh Dobbs). He led the running backs with a 73.5 offensive grade.

How did the rest of the offense do? Here’s a look at how PFF analysts graded the Browns against the Jaguars.

(PFF grades every player on every play and uses a scale of 0-100, with higher grades indicating better play. PFF has explained its grades this way: 100-90 elite; 89-85 Pro Bowler; 84-70 starter; 69-60 backup; 59-0 replaceable. In other words, it’s similar to how we would match up percentages with traditional letter grades in school.)
